This is an imaginary portrait painting in oils on canvas, using a palette knife. This is one of a series of women in hats that I paint while waiting for my commissioned portrait paintings to dry. I love painting them as I can 'let loose' with experimenting with colours, design and marks - they help me to become 'looser' with my portrait work.
